How the utilised SOC window in commercial Li-ion pouch cells influence battery ageing

In many lithium-ion battery (LIB) applications, e.g. hybrid vehicles and load-levelling storage systems, only part of the state-of-charge (SOC) range needs to be utilised. This offers possibility use an optimal SOC window avoid LIB ageing. Here, a large test matrix is designed study ageing in commercial 26 Ah pouch cell, order map behaviour at different levels with respect temperature current. A quantification degradation modes, loss lithium inventory (LLI), active positive (LAMPE) negative (LAMNE) electrode materials made by analysing change open circuit voltage (OCV). key result that lower intervals significantly improved Even during harsh conditions, such as high C-rates temperatures, cells deliver more than three times expected number full cycle equivalents. High combined C-rate increase where dominating mechanisms are LLI, followed LAMPE.
